Woonerf Inc. is pleased to announce that Ryoji Nakayama, Leader of the Sustainable Community Unit, will serve as a session speaker at the Greenbuild International Conference + Expo 2026, one of the world’s largest events dedicated to green building and sustainable development, taking place in New York City, USA, from October 20 to 23, 2026.

On October 20, Nakayama will participate as a speaker in the workshop “LEED for Communities: Frameworks for Sustainability in New Community Design and Existing Community Performance.”

The workshop will explore the application of LEED for Communities, a framework that evaluates and advances community sustainability across a broad range of areas, including energy, water, waste, transportation, public health, and quality of life. LEED for Communities supports the improvement of social, economic, and environmental performance in a variety of places, including new and redeveloping mixed-use districts, master-planned developments, business improvement districts (BIDs), and corporate and university campuses.

In addition, on October 23, Nakayama will speak at the session “Nature-Positive Development: Aligning Policy, Finance, and Design for Resilient Communities,” where he will join a discussion on sustainable urban development and community planning through a nature-positive lens.

The session will bring together representatives from municipal governments, financial institutions, regenerative design practices, and certification organizations to exchange perspectives on biodiversity restoration, climate adaptation, public health, and resilience. The discussion will also explore emerging nature-related disclosure frameworks, including the Taskforce on Nature-related Financial Disclosures (TNFD), as well as the role of certification systems such as LEED, SITES, and LEED for Cities in advancing nature-positive outcomes across the built environment.

If you are planning to attend the Greenbuild International Conference + Expo 2026, we encourage you to join this session and take part in the conversation.

Woonerf remains committed to supporting the development of sustainable and resilient communities and cities, while bringing leading international knowledge and best practices to Japan.
