What is the application process for LEED certification?
A

The third-party (GBCI) review for LEED certification is conducted on an online platform called LEED Online .
The first step is to register your project. Project registration is completed by entering the required information (project name, total floor space, owner information, etc.) on LEED Online and paying the registration fee. After project registration is complete, you will be able to submit your application via LEED Online. For more information, please click here.

QWhat is the application process for WELL certification?

The audit by a third-party organization (GBCI) for WELL certification is conducted on an online platform called WELL Online .The assessment for WELL certification consists of a documentary assessment and a performance verification on-site. After the project registration is completed, the entire process, from the application procedure to the receipt of the document review results and on-site verification, will be conducted on WELL Online.

QWhat is FS and can certification be obtained without conducting FS?

FS is an abbreviation for Feasibility Study and refers to the process of verifying the feasibility of obtaining certification for a target project based on information from drawings and other documents and interviews with project stakeholders. Although FS is not required for certification, it is a valuable tool for evaluating project plans and policies and identifying problems and areas for improvement.

QAre all documents submitted for certification must be in English? Can I submit them in Japanese?

Yes, all documents submitted for international certification must be in English. However, documents in Japanese will be submitted with translations added where necessary.

QOnce a project is LEED certified and wants to retain its certification, does it need to undergo a periodic renewal process (re-certification)?
A

For LEED new construction versions (BD+C, ID+C, ND, etc.), no further renewal work is required once certified.
For LEED Existing Edition (O+M) certified projects, renewal work (re-certification application) is required every three years, and for LEED for Cities and Communities certified projects, renewal work (re-certification application) is required every five years.
