Co-establishment of Arc Japan Inc. – A data platform business to monitor ESG data in real estate and support decarbonization –

Woonerf, Inc. has jointly established Arc Japan Inc. (hereinafter “Arc Japan”) with the Development Bank of Japan Inc. and Arc Skoru Inc. (hereinafter “Arc Skoru”) on February 1, 2021.

Arc is a data platform developed by Arc Skoru, a subsidiary of the Green Business Certification Inc. (GBCI), a third-party certification organization for environmental assessment tools such as LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) for buildings and cities. The platform is used to measure and evaluate the environmental performance of real estate, including greenhouse gas emissions, waste, water consumption, air quality measurement, and comfort surveys, and compare it with similar real estate properties worldwide. It covers not only buildings that have obtained real estate environmental certification but also a wide range of properties owned or used by various businesses, supporting efforts toward decarbonization across the entire market.

Since its founding in 2006, Woonerf has been working with various stakeholders such as companies, universities, municipalities, and financial institutions to promote ESG real estate and sustainable urban design through support for international certification acquisitions such as LEED, WELL, and SITES. Woonerf and Arc Japan aim to improve the sustainability of real estate in Japan and transition to a decarbonized society by visualizing the environmental performance, safety, and comfort of real estate through the Arc platform and supporting efforts toward improvement.
