- QWhat is the difference between WELL Certification and WELL Rating?
AWELL Certification (certification) and WELL Rating are both systems that evaluate buildings' health, comfort, and sustainability, but they differ in what they assess and evaluate it.
WELL is a certification system that focuses on the health impact of buildings and organizational efforts and comprehensively evaluates the design, operation, and maintenance of buildings.
The WELL Rating is a subset of the WELL Certification and includes the WELL Health Safety Rating (WELL HSR), WELL Performance Rating (WELL PR), and WELL Equity Rating (WELL ER). Unlike the WELL certification, there is no on-site verification, only a review of the submitted documents. It focuses on specific themes within the functions of the WELL Building Standard, including health, safety, performance, and equity. Each can be achieved as a stand-alone achievement or as a milestone to earn a WELL Rating, with a seal of recognition awarded for achievement. Since there are no prerequisites, the program can be customized according to the one’s needs, building type and usage.

AAn integrated platform, Arc, is available to measure and score the environmental performance of any space, building, or place. Arc rates buildings and cities on five key performance indicators (KPIs): energy, water, waste, transportation, and comfort, and compares them to a database of green buildings around the world. The scores are updated each time data is entered, and performance scores based on current operations can be checked in real time. For more information, please contact Arc Japan.
